2017 Nissan LEAF the only all-electric vehicle to receive dependability award in 2020 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study

Leading consumer advocate J.D. Power recognized the Nissan LEAF and Nissan Frontier with top honors in their 2020 U.S. Vehicle Dependability StudySM (VDS). The three-year-in-service study surveyed owners about their 2017 model year vehicles, with a lower score reflecting fewer problems per vehicle. Nissan LEAF ranked as the top performing non-premium vehicle and at the top of the compact car segment with a score of 83 problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100). The Nissan LEAF is the first pure electric vehicle to win an overall segment award in the history of the VDS study. "The Vehicle Dependability Study is a great validation of a vehicle's true quality because it comes after three years of real world, everyday use, " said Mark Swenson, vice president, Total Customer Satisfaction, Nissan North America, Inc. "Nissan LEAF also recently won a Kelley Blue Book '5 Year Cost to Own Award' for the third consecutive year among electric vehicles " more For the second year in a row, Frontier took first place in the midsize pickup segment with a score of 110 PP100. Frontier also was a segment winner in the 2017 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study that measures new-vehicle quality at 90 days of ownership, proving the staying power of Frontier quality. Nissan Armada ranked second in the Large SUV category just three PP100 behind the winner. For 2020, Nissan LEAF is available with a choice of two battery options, 40 kWh (LEAF) and 62 kWh (LEAF PLUS), ensuring that there's a Nissan LEAF to meet the driving needs of a wide range of customers1. Because ownership satisfaction and peace of mind are pivotal for all Nissan LEAF owners, the battery-limited warranty of 8 years/100,000 miles2 (whichever occurs first) is standard for all versions. The new 2020 Frontier is currently on display at the Chicago Auto Show. It features an all-new, powerful 3.8-liter direct injection V6 engine and all-new 9-speed automatic transmission – both of which will be key elements in the upcoming next-generation Frontier. The 2020 Frontier, the last model year of the current generation, will feature best-in-class horsepower3 and expects to provide improved fuel economy4 and emissions performance when it goes on sale in spring 2020.

Drivers can switch their ride every day with Nissan’s first subscription service

Nissan is launching "on-demand driving" through its test of a subscription service model called Nissan Switch. The program launches in the Houston area and offers a variety of vehicles, including the all-electric Nissan LEAF PLUS, TITAN pickup, and GT-R. Just like other popular subscription services for television and music, there is no long-term contractual commitment. "Nissan Switch is another way that Nissan is testing alternatives to the notion of traditional mobility, without long-term financial commitments for our customers," said Andrew Tavi, vice president, Legal, External Affairs and Business Development, Nissan North America, Inc. "This program provides more choice, convenience, and flexibility. For those who want a sedan during the week and an SUV or sports car, like the GTR, on the weekends, Nissan Switch provides the solution." more The Nissan Switch subscription program, powered by Clutch Technologies LLC (Clutch), offers vehicles that represent the latest model year featuring well-equipped trim levels. Some include driver-assist technology, allowing shoppers to try innovative features like Nissan ProPILOT Assist.1 There are two tiers to Nissan's subscription services with the ability to switch tiers each month. After a $495 membership activation fee, the monthly subscription includes the vehicle (unlimited switches, as often as a new vehicle each day), delivery, cleaning, insurance, roadside assistance, and regular maintenance. Nissan is working with Central Houston Nissan to administer this new subscription service. A dealership concierge member will deliver the vehicle anywhere within the Select Service2 area and will help transfer items from car to car. The concierge also offers to walk-around the vehicle at the time of delivery to answer any questions about key features, safety, and driver-assist technologies. "We are eager to explore subscription services to understand how we can best serve customers' evolving wants and needs," said Chad Milow, general manager, Central Houston Nissan. "This is a great opportunity for people to drive what they want when they need it for one, predictable payment." Customers can find more information about Nissan Switch, or enroll, at www.nissanswitch.com through August 2020

13-year-old Nissan Frontier delivers a million miles and counting

Murphy's Law doesn't apply to Brian Murphy, a Chicagoland delivery driver who set a goal in 2007 to put a million miles on his Nissan Frontier pickup truck. On workdays, Murphy starts before sunrise and returns home about 13 hours later. He drove about 50,000 hours to rack up the million miles on his pickup — a two-wheel-drive, 4-cylinder, 5-speed manual 2007 Frontier King Cab with a Red Brawn exterior that still has its original engine and transmission. A million miles is about the same distance as two roundtrips to the Moon. "I had no doubt this truck would hit a million miles. It's tough and gets great fuel economy2, exactly what I need to get the job done," said Murphy. "I change my own oil every 10,000 miles and drive carefully. Nothing major has been replaced on this truck, it's really something." For other routine maintenance, the truck has been serviced at M'Lady Nissan in Crystal Lake, the same dealership where the 62-year-old Murphy bought the vehicle new in June 2007. more "Brian Murphy is the perfect Frontier customer. It's encouraging to hear exceptional stories like this and to know our vehicles are dependably serving customers – let alone for a million miles," said Tiago Castro, director, Nissan Commercial Vehicles. According to Murphy, the original clutch lasted 801,000 miles, the timing chain was replaced as preventative at 700,000 miles, and the radiator and alternator lasted about 450,000 miles each. Even the driver's seat lasted a half-million miles before being replaced. The U.S. Department of Transportation3 says males in Murphy's age group drive an average of 15,859 miles per year. Murphy drives, on average, about 77,000 miles per year. The digital odometer stopped tracking at 999,999 miles on January 27, 2020, but the trip odometer kept rolling to prove the truck now has over a million miles. Murphy began his career as a delivery truck driver 45 years ago in the Chicago area. He "retired" from corporate America 16 years ago and started his part-time job as an independent delivery driver in 2007. He has never used GPS to guide him on his route, and his driving record is free of any moving violations. "My truck deserves to rest, but I've got to keep busy," said Murphy. The "Million-Mile" Frontier was built at Nissan Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant in Smyrna, Tennessee. The company invited Murphy and his family to an event during the 2020 Chicago Auto Show. The 2020 TITAN features the most standard power, safety features and technology in its class

The family of 2020 Nissan TITAN full-size pickups receives an extensive redesign for the 2020 model year, featuring substantial powertrain updates and unique styling across trim levels. TITAN now also offers standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 across all grade levels. All told, the new 2020 TITAN offers the most standard power, safety features and technology in its class1. Nissan continues to provide America's Best Truck Warranty5 for the 2020 TITAN, with 5-year/100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper coverage. Best-in-class standard horsepower and torque, new 9-speed transmission Every 2020 TITAN is powered by a 5.6-liter Endurance® V8 gasoline engine rated at 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. Both standard horsepower and torque ratings are the best-in-class2 (premium fuel required). The engine is mated with a new 9-speed automatic transmission with a larger final gear ratio of 3.692:1– providing more torque at the wheels in a given gear and smoother and faster acceleration. For example, 50 mph to 70 mph acceleration is estimated to have been improved by almost a full second (compared to the previous TITAN equipped with a 7-speed automatic transmission). The larger range also means better range coverage for optimal power on standing starts and at cruising speeds. The powertrain feel is more linear through the gears. more The engine utilizes Nissan's VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) technology, which combines hydraulic-controlled variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift on the intake side to provide high performance and crisp response. The Endurance® V8 also features Direct Injection Gas (DIG™) technology, which provides better wide-open throttle performance and improved fuel economy and emissions performance (versus a non-direct-injection system) by reducing engine knock, improving combustion stability and offering precise injection control. The 2020 TITAN is available in a choice of 4x2 or 4x4 drive configurations. Nissan TITAN 4x4 models feature a transfer case designed to ensure maximum power distribution in every gear. It distributes torque to both ends and provides four-wheel drive when added traction is needed on snow, ice, sand, mud, dirt, water or gravel. Durable off-road performance has also been emphasized, with features such as Hill Descent Control (PRO-4X only), Hill Start Assist, Brake Limited-Slip Differential (BLSD) and available electronic locking rear differential (PRO-4X). The 2020 TITAN features an enhanced Off Road Gauge that displays the vehicle's tire angle, relative pitch and roll angles. Without using a gyroscope, a new method was developed to calculate the vehicle's orientation using accelerometer data and calculating the vehicle's G-force. Nissan's new gauge is expected to be the most accurate (versus competition) at higher speeds. Every 2020 TITAN also utilizes a durable chassis design, starting with the fully boxed, full-length ladder frame. The front suspension is a double-wishbone design, while a rigid rear axle suspension utilizes hefty leaf springs and leaf bushings, along with twin-tube shock absorbers. Hefty stabilizer bars are utilized front and rear. PRO-4X models feature Bilstein mono-tube off-road shocks. Hydraulic cab-mounts help isolate occupants from the chassis. The 2020 TITAN rides on a choice of 18-inch steel, newly designed 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels or 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels – depending on grade or option level. Tire choices include 265/75R18, 265/70R18, 275/60R20 all-season or 275/70R18 all-terrain tires. Braking is provided by a 4-wheel disc system with 13.78 x 1.2-inch front/13.58 x 0.8-inch rear ventilated discs front and rear with hydraulic power assist. The high brake fluid pressure generated by an electric pump assists brake pedal force for a confident feel. Responsive steering is provided by a rack-and-pinion steering system. The 2020 TITAN again offers confident available towing, utility features and driving aids, including an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Tow/Haul Mode with Downhill Speed Control and a Trailer Light Check system that allows one-person hook-up operation – including checking turn signals, brake lights and running/clearance lights. It offers an available maximum towing capacity of 9,370 pounds6 and maximum payload capacity of 1,680 pounds7 when properly equipped. First-class interior with available high-resolution 9" touchscreen The sense of commanding technology continues into the redesigned TITAN interior, which combines first-class accommodations with a sense of crafted detailing and premium finishes. TITAN's standard 8.0-inch center area display is the largest standard screen in the class, while the available Integrated Command Center with 9.0-inch touchscreen (standard on PRO-4X, SL and Platinum Reserve) features WXGA resolution – higher than HD. It serves as the gateway to the 2020 TITAN's enhanced next-generation connectivity that includes standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. The internal Wi-Fi router allows rear seat passengers to stream their favorite content (Wi-Fi data subscription required, sold separately). Up to seven devices can be connected. A 7.0-inch programmable driver information display is nearly three inches larger than most competitors' displays and helps ensure that customers can access meaningful vehicle information easily and clearly. TITAN Crew Cab model occupants are treated to a new available Dual Panel Panoramic Moonroof, the first offered on TITAN, measuring over three-feet square. Standard with NissanConnect® in the 2020 TITAN is Nissan Concierge, which provides owners 24-hour access to a live assistants at the push of a button from inside the vehicle, or outside via email, text of the NissanConnect Services App. Nissan Concierge assistants can help with a range of tasks from directions to restaurant reservations, appointment scheduling, wake up calls and even personal shopping. The next-generation NissanConnect® allows over-the-air (OTA) software updates, new safety and security features, HD Traffic and Google Places/Search10. Also available on the 2020 TITAN is NissanConnect Services, a suite of convenience and security features that provide assistance when owners need it most – including remote access features and emergency response services. NissanConnect Services can be accessed from inside the vehicle, on a computer, on a smartphone or smartwatch app and with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. TITAN's Fender® Premium Audio System returns for a second year. It includes 12 speakers with Crew Cab and 10 speakers on King Cab. The Fender® Bassman Subwoofer helps drive energetic, powerful bass response with ear-pleasing precision. The system's 485-watt, 9-channel amplifier with Panasonic's proprietary Acoustic Motion Control™, which renders the reverberation and ambience of original recordings with stunning realism. Every 2020 TITAN includes front and rear outboard Zero Gravity seats that help maximize posture positioning for enhanced comfort during long distance driving. Heating and cooling front seats are available. Heated front and rear seats are available in both cloth and leather trim levels. The 2020 TITAN's first-class interior accommodations include specially selected seat and trim materials and finishers for each grade level. Interior storage has also been enhanced, including a new, innovative flexible smartphone holder/charging system. Elsewhere, additional assist grips allow for more assistance getting in and out of the vehicle. Standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 with class-exclusive standard Rear Automatic Braking The 2020 TITAN is a showcase for Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies, starting with standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 – a suite of six advanced driver-assist systems. Safety Shield 360 includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), High Beam Assist (HBA) and class-exclusive standard Rear Automatic Braking (RAB)3. The new TITAN also features a number of other available advanced technologies – Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (I-FCW), Intelligent Around View® Monitor9 (I-AVM), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Intelligent Driver Alertness (I-DA)11 and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR). Nissan's innovative Rear Door Alert (RDA)12 is standard on all grade levels. And, the 2020 TITAN now includes eight air bags (versus the previous six) and four seat belt pretensioners (versus the previous two). The available Intelligent Around View® Monitor (I-AVM)9 provides a composite "bird's eye" view of the surrounding area from front, rear and side cameras to help with parking and pulling in and out of tight spaces and even off-roading at low speeds. The system also includes Moving Object Detection (MOD), which helps alert the driver to detected moving objects around the vehicle via an on-screen notification and warning chime.
