After weeks of real-world testing, the all-new 2022 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X was named “Best Off-Road Truck” by the editors of TFLtruck.com (TFL). Nissan’s completely reimagined Frontier mid-size pickup was evaluated against three other all-new 2022 model pickups in categories including off-road prowess, technology, performance, trailer towing and efficiency.
In winning the Best Off-Road Truck category, the TFL testers wrote: “The Frontier PRO-4X we tested has what it takes to tackle difficult trails. It has the locking rear differential, low-range transfer case, Bilstein shocks, and skid plates. It was a very good off-road pickup truck in its previous generation, and this new one is no different.”
During the multi-venue evaluation, the Frontier was challenged in areas such as Colorado’s Webster Pass and Tombstone Hill trails, where its mid-size proportions shone through on narrow trails – while the PRO-4X grade’s standard Bilstein® shock absorbers and aggressive all-terrain tires made “short work of most obstacles.”
