TV’s ‘Property Brothers,’ join Habitat for Humanity and Nissan to kick off Home is the Key campaign

Drew and Jonathan Scott are raising the walls on two new Nashville homes today as part of the start to Habitat for Humanity's second annual nationwide Home is the Key campaign. The campaign, which runs the month of April, convenes sponsors, celebrities and community leaders to drive support for the critical need of affordable housing across the United States. "We have been longtime supporters of Habitat for Humanity because we know the real meaning of home," said Jonathan Scott, one half of the world-renowned, entrepreneurial construction and real estate expert brothers. "A safe and affordable place to live is the key to building a strong family foundation. The families we're working alongside in Nashville are just two examples of the thousands of people that Habitat serves across the country every year." more As profiled on NBC's TODAY Show, the Scott Brothers are working alongside future Habitat homeowners Ashlee and Amanda to build their homes today. Throughout the month, campaign sponsors will engage additional volunteers to help finish the homes by April 26. "Purchasing a home is increasingly out of reach for far too many people across the country," Drew Scott said. "By supporting the #HomeIsTheKey campaign, we can all play a role in building more homes and more opportunities for families." "At Habitat for Humanity, we have long known that home is the key to a better life," said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. "For more than 40 years, we have helped more than 13 million people become empowered to build better lives for themselves and their families. But with more than 18 million U.S. families paying more than half their income on housing, it is clear that so much more work needs to be done. Home is the Key is the opportunity for everyone to be part of the solution. By raising your voice, donating directly to Habitat or shopping with one of our generous partners, you can help us unlock the future for many more families who need a hand up. All-new 2019 Nissan Altima makes world debut at New York International Auto Show

Nissan today revealed the all-new Altima, bringing excitement back to the mid-size sedan segment with expressive styling, an uplifting interior, two new powerplants, the first available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive in a Nissan sedan in the U.S. and advanced Nissan Intelligent Mobility features, including ProPILOT Assist. The 2019 Altima goes on sale in the U.S. in the fall, followed by other global markets at later dates. The sixth generation of Nissan's best-selling sedan made its world debut at the 2018 New York International Auto Show, alongside the first North American showing of Nissan's Formula E racing car. more "This new Altima builds on 25 years and more than 5.6 million Altima sales to date – but to us, this is just a starting point," said Denis Le Vot, senior vice president, chairman of management committee, Nissan North America, Inc. "That's why we decided to shake up the midsize segment in terms of design, driving enjoyment and technologies that are advanced and affordable." The new Altima follows the 2018 LEAF in embodying the vision of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, making vehicles more desirable by re-defining how they are driven, powered and integrated into society. A key component is ProPILOT Assist, a single-lane "hands-on" driving assistance technology that eases driver workload by reducing the amount of driver acceleration, steering and braking input under certain driving conditions, such as single-lane highway driving. ProPILOT Assist is standard on the 2019 Altima SV, SL and Platinum grades. Also new for 2019 is Rear Automatic Braking, which helps the driver detect stationary objects when backing up, and if necessary applies the brakes to help avoid a collision. The addition of Rear Automatic Braking to Nissan Safety Shield creates Safety Shield 360, which provides front, side and rear safety monitoring and intervention technologies – including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), radar-based Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and High Beam Assist (HBA). Two new engines are introduced on the all-new Altima. Replacing the previous-generation Altima's 3.5-liter V6 engine is the company's world's first production-ready variable compression turbo inline 4-cylinder. The engine delivers near V6-level performance with 4-cylinder fuel economy. Standard on all 2019 Altima grade levels is a new 2.5-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder direct-injection engine. More than just the gains in horsepower and torque, the new engine offers improvements in noise, vibration and harshness, along with enhanced fuel economy and cleaner emissions. The 2019 Altima also offers available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive for the first time ever on an Altima. The AWD system is available on all trim levels equipped with the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. "We saw that the lack of available all-wheel drive has been a key factor in pushing U.S. buyers who prefer sedans to compact SUVs," said Le Vot. "Of the top three selling midsize sedans in the U.S., only Altima will offer all-wheel drive. We expect this to be a key sales driver, especially for customers in the northern part of the country." The all-new Altima's expressive design was inspired by the award-winning Nissan Vmotion 2.0 concept. The new Altima is lower, longer and wider than the previous generation with a highly balanced, aggressive stance that includes available 19-inch wheels and tires. Inside, the all-new premium interior features a wide "gliding wing" instrument panel – which accentuates the exterior's low cowl and hood, helping create an open, airy environment. Key interior comfort and convenience features range from seats with added bolstering for improved holding and support, to standard NissanConnectSM featuring Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ and an 8-inch multi-touch color display. The 2019 Altima will be offered in a range of trim levels – S, SR, SV, SL and Platinum. All five come equipped with the standard 2.5-liter engine and are available with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. In addition, the Altima SR and Platinum grades are available with the advanced 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine (front-wheel drive only). An exclusive launch edition based on the Platinum VC-Turbo will be offered in limited quantities and open for reservations in early summer 2018 (U.S. market only). Also on display at the New York International Auto Show is Nissan's dramatic new Formula E racer. Nissan will become the first Japanese automotive brand to compete in the all-electric FIA Formula E racing championship starting in late 2018. The innovative championship will be used to showcase Nissan Intelligent Mobility. The new generation Formula E car features striking new aerodynamics and an entirely new battery and powertrain package. Season five of the Formula E series is expected to begin in December 2018 and visit major cities around the world including New York, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Zurich and Hong Kong. The 2018 New York International Auto Show runs March 30 through April 8 at Jacob Javits Convention Center, New York City. Nissan honored as featured marque at the 2018 Classic Motorsports Mitty

Big news in the Nissan motorsports world: Nissan/Datsun has been selected as the featured marque for the Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Speedfest vintage races at the upcoming Classic Motorsports Mitty vintage festival, where legendary Datsun/Nissan race driver John Morton will serve as the grand marshal. Now in its 41st year, the Mitty festival – the longest-running vintage and historic race in the U.S. – returns to the celebrated Road Atlanta road course the weekend of April 26-29. more The bespectacled Morton is best known best for driving a BRE Datsun 510 to a pair of Sports Car Club of America titles in the Under 2.5-liter Trans-Am series, and also winning a pair of two SCCA C-Production championships in a BRE Datsun 240Z. These early racing successes in 1970, 1971 and 1972 put Nissan on the U.S. racing map, proving to the world that the 510 and 240Z were capable of defeating highly regarded European makes like Alfa Romeo and BMW. And of course, Morton's Datsuns wore the Brock Racing Enterprises red, white and blue livery, a classic paint scheme that has spawned countless numbers of tribute BRE 510s around the country. The popular and talented Morton's success with Nissan went far beyond BRE. Some 15 years later, he joined Nissan's IMSA-dominating GTP ZX-Turbo program, sharing a car with Geoff Brabham in 1988 that defeated the mighty Porsche 962s and won at challenging circuits such as Road America and Watkins Glen. Later, in 1994, Morton bolstered his competitive legacy by teaming with Steve Millen and Johnny O'Connell to win the 12 Hours of Sebring in a GTS-class Nissan 300ZX, which was followed by a class victory (and a fifth-overall finish) at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. "I'm excited to be going to Atlanta," remarked Morton, who said Road Atlanta is particularly special to him because it's the track where the Nissan IMSA GTP team started an eight-race win streak back in 1988. "It's a real honor to be named grand marshal," said Morton. "Road Atlanta is right up there with the best road racing tracks in the country, so I'm pleased to be honored in this way. Nissan has a tremendous racing heritage that goes back even before BRE, but it really blossomed under BRE in 1970 and continued through the GTP era. Nissan has a tremendous amount of racing credibility. An awful lot of people still support Nissan and Datsun in racing today, and most of that enthusiasm goes back 50 years." A member of multiple motorsport halls of fame, Morton is a regular on the vintage race circuit and has competed often with HSR, the sanctioning body for the Mitty. As grand marshal, Morton will sign autographs in the Classic Motorsports tent, but he also will race an exact replica of his No. 46 BRE 240Z. Morton said the Z, beautifully built by Georgian Randy Jaffe, is a faithful recreation of the original Z he drove to two SCCA titles, but unfortunately no longer exists. Celebrating its status as the featured marque, Nissan North America is bringing several historic cars to the event, highlighted by the original No. 46 Datsun 510 that Morton drove to the 1971 and 1972 SCCA Under 2.5-liter Trans-Am titles. Other classic Nissans on display will include the No. 83 GTP ZX-Turbo, nicknamed "Elvis" for its on-track dominance in 1988, and a 1990 PPG Indy series pace car, plus a 1971 240Z and a 1995 300ZX twin turbo, an SMZ special edition from Steve Millen's shops. To whet your appetite for the Mitty (and see why so many fans are crazy about BRE Datsuns) check out this vintage promotional video; it's a fun look back at Morton's 1971 championship season in which he battled Horst Kwech in the Alfa Romeo all the way until the last race of the season at Laguna Seca. Sure, the film's a bit grainy, but that only adds to its charm as it beautifully captures the spirit and feel of this significant chapter in Nissan motorsports history.

They make cars every day – but have never driven one

For some women, the dream of driving may be blocked by a series of obstacles. Fear of making a mistake, lack of resources and support, or no time when pursuing a career could all prevent someone from getting behind the wheel. At Nissan's Industrial Complex in Resende, Brazil, employees Ana Beatriz Correa, Camila Josué, Letícia Menezes and Michele de Souza help produce cars every day – even though they had never driven one. To honor International Women's Day, Nissan invited employees at the Resende factory to talk about their dream of driving. A few women were selected for a special driving class with Helena Deyama, a legendary rally driver from Brazil. more "I hope to have made a difference in their lives, encouraging them with my story about overcoming prejudices and all the difficulties to fulfil my dream of driving," said Deyama. "I hope they never forget the responsibility of driving a car and never lose focus on safety. I told them to never underestimate themselves. We are more powerful than we believe." In addition to meeting Deyama, the women had a practical driving class with an instructor at the Nissan complex. They received a surprise at the end of the class, too. Watch the video below for Nissan's homage to International Women's Day.
