The 2020 Maxima brings additional enhancements, including making Nissan Safety Shield 360, a suite of active safety technologies, standard across the entire lineup. In addition, the previous Premium Package content, including Dual Panel Panoramic Moonroof and Intelligent Around View® Monitor, is now standard on the Maxima SR grade. The 2020 Maxima is available in five well-equipped models: Maxima S, SV, SL, SR and Platinum, each equipped with a 300-horsepower 3.5-liter VQ-series V6 engine and performance-oriented Xtronic transmission. The 2020 Maxima sedan's aggressive styling features a voluminous front grille with a deep V-motion grille, standard jewel-like LED headlights and Nissan Signature Daytime Running Lights – contributing to the flagship sedan's premium, high performance appearance. Inside is a driver-oriented cockpit and comfortable seating for five occupants. The interior's "Gliding Wing" interior layout emphasizes the horizontal movement and easy access to all controls. For 2020, Maxima again maintains its true sports sedan performance with a standard 300-horsepower 3.5-liter VQ-series V6 engine. The sporty Maxima SR grade features unique suspension damper tuning, a larger front stabilizer bar and 19-inch wheels and tires. Nissan Safety Shield 360, a suite of six advanced driver-assist systems, includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist and Rear Automatic Braking. In addition to Safety Shield 360, Maxima also offers available Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR). Nissan and EVgo are expanding the charging network for EV drivers with the installation of 200 direct current fast chargers (DCFC) across the United States. Each of the new fast-chargers is capable of delivering 100kW and have both CHAdeMO and CCS connectors so more EV drivers can benefit. "Nissan is proud to have partnered with EVgo to build the largest public EV fast charging network in the U.S.," said Aditya Jairaj, director, EV Sales and Marketing, Nissan North America, Inc. As Nissan prepares to launch an all-new, redesigned 2020 Versa compact sedan next week, its flagship Maxima sedan continues to make a strong showing in J.D. Power consumer studies. Maxima today was named the top ranked vehicle in the J.D. Power 2019 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) StudySM Large Car segment for the second consecutive year. The award follows Maxima's top ranking in the 2019 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS) Large Car segment, making it one of only seven vehicles to earn both awards this year. Nissan's strength in sedans continues with Nissan Altima, which tied for best Midsize Car with two other vehicles in the 2019 APEAL Study. One of the most important things you can do to keep your vehicle healthy and running smoothly is to change its oil. Changing a vehicle’s oil is simple enough to do at home, but if you simply do not have the time to do it yourself, fear not, your friends here at Passport Auto Group are here to help you out. Many people who bring their vehicles in when they need to change their oil do not think about bringing it to a dealership because they think we charge more than other places. You may be under the impression that every car needs an oil change at exactly three months or 3,000 miles. Or maybe you're on the other end of the spectrum and you won't bother until your engine actually stops running. (Spoiler alert: if that has happened, it's too late.) The first example is just a little off. The second is scary! MY, HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED. The standard 3,000 mile rule comes from an earlier age of vehicle production. With advances in both engine and oil technology, you don't need to stick to such a frequent schedule. Some classic and specialty cars will still want to be on this tighter timetable, but if you're driving a vehicle built in the last decade or so, it probably isn't necessary. It won't hurt the car, but you might just be wasting some good oil if you change it too often. BUT WHY SHOULD I BOTHER TO CHANGE THE OIL IN MY CAR? Oil lubricates your engine and all of its little components. When the oil breaks down, it can't do its job effectively anymore. With all that friction, your engine will overheat, which can cause parts to quickly wear down and warp. If you just never change your oil, your engine is likely to eventually seize up and turn into a big useless pile of scrap metal. SO WHAT SHOULD I DO? Unfortunately, there isn't really an easy rule to remember across the board. Each car is different, and each driver is different. The first thing to do is check your owner's manual. For example, some manufacturers recommend a maximum interval of 12 months or 7,500 miles between oil changes for many of their models. Your next guideline is to make sure you always pay attention to your vehicle's notifications and warning lights- most new vehicles include some very cool technology and it would be a shame to ignore it! You'll want to adjust your own oil change schedule depending on your driving habits and conditions. Extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, can cause your oil to work a little harder. Nissan ProPILOT Assist "Nissan is a technology pioneer and ProPILOT Assist sets a strong, consumer-focused foundation for fully autonomous vehicles of the future," said Takeshi Yamaguchi, senior vice president, Research and Development, Nissan Technical Center North America, Nissan North America, Inc. Nissan has plans to extend this technology to more models in Europe, Japan, China and the United States – with 10 models to be launched by 2020 by the Renault-Nissan Alliance. How ProPILOT Assist Works Tuned specifically for U.S. roads, ProPILOT Assist is designed to be more intuitive and user-friendly compared to other driver-assist technologies. It can potentially help lessen driver fatigue and create a more confident driving experience – especially for drivers who experience heavy highway traffic on a daily basis. more ProPILOT Assist uses a forward-facing camera, forward-facing radar, sensors and electronic control module to help the driver stay in the center of the driving lane and to maintain vehicle speed (set by the driver) or help maintain a gap to the preceding vehicle if the vehicle speed drops below the driver-set speed. It also can slow the vehicle to a complete stop and holds the vehicle during traffic jam conditions. While providing steering assist, reducing the need for constant small steering adjustments, the driver's hands must be on the steering wheel at all times. Hands-on detection is provided by the system's steering torque sensor. If the driver only grips the steering system with a light touch, the warning system may activate, alerting the driver to apply more pressure or a tighter grip on the steering wheel. Steering assist is cancelled in inclement weather if the windshield wipers are in the low or high position (if lane lines can be detected, the system can remain active when the wipers are in the intermittent mode or if the mist function is activated). The driver's input always takes priority, overriding the system when the steering wheel is turned or the turn signal is operated (steering assistance goes into a temporary standby mode). The system also goes into temporary standby mode when the accelerator pedal is pressed. And, the system's Intelligent Cruise Control and lane keep assistance are both cancelled when the brakes are applied. "ProPILOT Assist has the ability to track curving lanes, helping the driver stay centered in the lane as well as adjusting for various traffic flow conditions," said Yamaguchi. "However, just as non-autonomous vehicles today, ProPILOT Assist requires the driver to remain engaged in the task of driving at all times – though the technology can reduce driver fatigue and increase driving enjoyment." About ProPILOT Assist Nissan's ProPILOT Assist eases driver workload by reducing the amount of driver acceleration, steering and braking input under certain driving conditions. To activate the system, the driver simply pushes the blue ProPILOT Assist ON button, which is integrated into the right-side steering wheel spoke. Step two is to set the Intelligent Cruise Control when the desired speed is reached, as with a normal advanced cruise control system. When lane markers are consistently detected, steering assist engages and the steering wheel/lane marker icons on the instrument panel turn green. Both right and left hand markers need to be detected by the front camera. Steering assist will engage or disengage depending on the visibility or presence of lane markers, though the Intelligent Cruise Control will remain active. If the vehicle comes to a complete stop in a traffic jam situation for more than three seconds, the driver just presses the resume button or taps the accelerator pedal to begin moving again. "ProPILOT Assist functionally enhances the ICC system, including stop, hold and start, while the steering assist's lane centering helps keep the vehicle in the center of the lane," added Yamaguchi. "Drivers who have experienced ProPILOT Assist always remark about the difference it makes, not realizing how many acceleration, steering and braking inputs they make under normal driving – and how much more enjoyable it is to have ProPILOT Assist help take care of it for them." The Nissan Rogue Sport receives a fresh new front end appearance for the 2020 model year, along with redesigned rear tail lamps, revised trim level and option package content. Set for sale in fall 2019, most prominent among the 2020 Rogue Sport refinements is the new exterior design that offers a more technical feel – helping provide a greater separation from its Nissan Rogue stable mate. The new front fascia features a new hood, Vmotion grille and bumper. The aggressive lighting treatment includes LED signature Daytime Running Lights. In the rear, a new combination light design matches the more dynamic look of the front end.
