Nissan Maxima and Murano named to Cars.com '2020 Car Seat Check Honor Roll'

The 2020 Nissan Maxima and Murano have been named to Cars.com's Car Seat Check Honor Roll, an annual listing of family vehicles that "best fit car seats and have the easiest-to-use LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) systems for car seat installation." The vehicles selected were based on evaluations by Cars.com's certified car seat technicians. According to Cars.com, properly installed child-safety seats decrease the risk of death by up to 71% for infants and 54% for 1-to-4-year-olds1. Evaluators noted Maxima's color-coded lower LATCH anchors and top tethers, which make them easier to find. They also praised Murano's roomy interior for being able to fit three child-safety seats across its backseat. Cars.com also named both Maxima and Murano to the 2019 list, earning all A's in the online site's research. To receive the top grade of A, the technicians evaluate the car's LATCH system, checking that the lower anchors and top tether anchors are easy to find and use. They also install a rear-facing infant seat, rear- and forward-facing convertible car seat, and a high-back booster seat into each test car, looking for any issues with fit or installation. Following Maxima's restyling for the 2019 model year, the 2020 model saw additional enhancements, including standard Nissan Safety Shield® 360 across the entire lineup. Nissan Safety Shield® 360 is a suite of six advanced active safety and driver-assist technologies, including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist and Rear Automatic Braking. In 2021, Maxima celebrates four decades as Nissan's flagship sedan with a special, limited-production Maxima 40th Anniversary Edition. Murano also received a number of enhancements for 2020, including expanded availability of Nissan Safety Shield® 360, which is standard on SV, SL and Platinum grades. All Murano models, like Maxima, also feature Nissan's innovative Rear Door Alert system2 that can remind a busy driver to check the rear seat for children or objects upon exiting their vehicle using a series of distinctive honks.
