If the Japanese automaker could pull it off with the release of one model around the world, it would make the LEAF the most popular vehicle in the company's history.

This makes sense too, as the LEAF has already sold 15,000 units since being introduced in late 2010. By themselves, these numbers don't sound like much, but when you consider the fact that Nissan did a limited release of the LEAF, it shows just how high the demand for the vehicle really is. So far, they've sold 8,000 in the U.S., 6,000 in Japan, and 1,000 in Europe.
