Twenty Years of Nissan Never Felt So Good

The Nissan Altimaoriginally came to the United States as a 1992 model, and it took the market by storm. That's right now, in its 2012 model year, the Altima is officially 20 years old. It's hard to believe, but it's true. Why are we here at Passport Nissan bringing this up? Well, aside from the fact that it's simply an impressive feat, the Japanese automaker is also planning something big to celebrate.

More specifically, they're planning to launch a special "20th Anniversary Package" to be featured in the 2012 model. This is  a move that comes as no surprise to us either, honestly. The Altima was named the second best selling U.S. car in 2011, and it's often the model that many first time Nissan buyers consider.

"We want to acknowledge Altima's first two decades and how much it has meant to the company - and reward loyal Altima customers with this special 20th Anniversary equipment package," explains Al Castignetti, Vice President and General Manager, Nissan North America. "From its uncertain beginnings, Altima has grown to be a real power nameplate for Nissan in the competitive mid-size segment - a position we intend to hold for many more anniversaries to come."1
